Insomnia

I know I have moaned about sleepless nights before but it is slowly but surely scaling new heights. After lying completely wide awake for over 4 hours in bed last night I am beginning to think I need to start a midnight itinery. At numerous points I thought about getting up and doing something like the ironing or some other crazy middle of the night task but I continued to try to count sheep in the hope that I would drop off, i was so knackered after all. So god knows when I did eventually go to sleep…

I think next time I should just forget about normality and just get up and do something, it has to be better than staring into bedroom darkness waiting for the sandman to come…

A baby by any other name…

This ‘thinking of names’ thing is a bit of a lark.

I used to be amazed by people whose babies had been born, and they STILL hadn’t decided what to call them.

“For God’s sake, they’ve had NINE MONTHS! How could they not have a name?”

Now, I think I understand a bit better. It’s not easy.

Well, that said, we have a girl’s name sorted. 100%. Month’s ago. But the boys name is proving to be harder than expected.

We’ve read countless name books, from cover to cover. “10,000+ baby names” – you’d think you’d be spoilt for choice.

Trouble is, you keep going “oh, no, I knew one of them once. He was a git” or “Nah, that’s that guy off that crap TV show” or “Dear God No, he plays for Man Utd”.

So we’re down to a shortlist of about 7 boy’s names. Maybe we’ll have to see what he looks like if it’s a boy. If it’s a girl, then we’ll wonder what a lot of fuss and effort for nothing!

The worst part is people rhyming off suggestions – because if they manage to hit one of our list (or our def. girl’s name), then they’ll end up saying “oh, you went for MY idea” if we choose it.

The other worry is that some friend’s of ours are due to have their baby in about 2 weeks. I think we’ve decided that we’ll just have to stick to ours, even if it’s the same!

It’s a funny ol’ business. Best if you guys just stick to guessing if it’s a boy or a girl…

Sleepless Nights

It looks like the sleepless nights are starting early. Maybe its all part of the preparation for b-day. If I have to gradually get used to not sleeping now, maybe it’ll be less of a culture shock later…or something..

All I know is that I have two big carrier bags underneath my eyes that are full with z’s that didn’t get out last night, and for the past previous nights too. Either I keep waking up extremely sore hips, or to junior giving me a few big kicks (why is it that the kicks seem lot stronger at 4am?!). And if I want to turn over, its like somekind of nightly weight lifting…I have to wake up lift my belly over with me to turn over, otherwise it stays put where it is, like a big sack of spuds!

And I still have nearly 3 months left! Be prepared for lots of moaning..! :)

The things you learn..

Well I am a bit late with my report on our ante-natal class, but Woz pretty much somes it up…as soon as I saw the name badges and people sitting in a circle I just wanted to leg it out of there. Either we had entered some kind of time warp or we had wondered accidently into the alcohol anonymous group! AHHH!

About 5 minutes of it was really useful, the rest was sooo cringe-worthy…

At least I know to practice my pelvic floor exercises every day….how is that done again..?! ;)
