20 Week Scan...
...or indeed 22 week scan as we discovered today! So this was our 'big' and last scan before we see junior in the flesh. the midwife was lovely and must've spent about half an hour scanning, which is quite a contrast to the previous in and out in 5 minutes! But I suppose this was the serious one - to do all the checking and measuring to make sure everything was ok. You kind of forget thats what its for really in the excitement of seeing whats going on inside my belly! But everything looked fine and in fact we are a week ahead of schedule which means that our new due date is 29th September! Or even on my birthday on the 30th - what a present that would be! Its quite spooky that of all the days to have a baby its due on my birthday albeit a day. And Warrens dad was quite pleased to find this out as its his birthday on the 29th! So we will have to wait and see, whenever junior feels like popping out..
It was really exciting seeing the scan though, much more than before because we had more time to watch what was going on. And although the picture is not as clear below (because s/he is too big to fit in one pic now) the detail was amazing. You could see all the limbs, fingers and toes, its heart - beating away and even fluid in its belly (which is the black spot on the right if you can make it out) which means s/he is able to swallow properly. Junior wouldn't sit still and you could clearly make out the kicking and moving about and at one stage s/he even grabbed a foot! It was truely amazing...if I had one of those machines at home I would sit all day spying on my little baby :)

Nige says s/he has a big fat bally!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (that's Bilston talk)
