A baby by any other name...

| | Comments (1)

This 'thinking of names' thing is a bit of a lark.

I used to be amazed by people whose babies had been born, and they STILL hadn't decided what to call them.

"For God's sake, they've had NINE MONTHS! How could they not have a name?"

Now, I think I understand a bit better. It's not easy.

Well, that said, we have a girl's name sorted. 100%. Month's ago. But the boys name is proving to be harder than expected.

We've read countless name books, from cover to cover. "10,000+ baby names" - you'd think you'd be spoilt for choice.

Trouble is, you keep going "oh, no, I knew one of them once. He was a git" or "Nah, that's that guy off that crap TV show" or "Dear God No, he plays for Man Utd".

So we're down to a shortlist of about 7 boy's names. Maybe we'll have to see what he looks like if it's a boy. If it's a girl, then we'll wonder what a lot of fuss and effort for nothing!

The worst part is people rhyming off suggestions - because if they manage to hit one of our list (or our def. girl's name), then they'll end up saying "oh, you went for MY idea" if we choose it.

The other worry is that some friend's of ours are due to have their baby in about 2 weeks. I think we've decided that we'll just have to stick to ours, even if it's the same!

It's a funny ol' business. Best if you guys just stick to guessing if it's a boy or a girl...
