Maxine's water's broke, at 5:30pm this evening. We were just on our way to Tesco's!

We weren't sure at first, but we went up to the hospital to check it, and they said yup, here we go....

So Maxine has been kept in, and I've been sent home to get some sleep. Something should happen in the next 24 hours or so.

I'm off to bed now. I'll let you all know more news as soon as I can.....

Can't get much bigger than this

For your viewing pleasure, here is probably the last bump pic before the little guy or girl is born. Max is looking like she at maximum (hehe maxi mum - geddit?) capacity, but at least she's still smiling....

Max says no, but maybe with a bit of persuasion....

...we could get one of these.

OK, here's a wierd one...

My mum was telling me that she met a friend in the supermarket on Saturday, that she hadn't seen for ages. They were discussing grandkids etc. and my mum said:
"Oh, I've got two Grandsons, and Warren's wife is due in about a week. She's going to have a little girl..."

Then she put her hand to her mouth, and looked at my dad, shocked.

"Oh, what a freudian slip!" she said. "I have no idea why I said that. We don't know what it is yet!"

So, spooky fortune-telling, Granny's intuition, or sub-concious hope? We'll find out soon enough I guess.

Now I understand...

...why even people who think pregnancy is the most fantastic thing in the world can't wait to get it over with at the end!

Despite the various complaints throughout the past 8.5 months I have actually enjoyed the pregnancy experience - there is nothing like it, it truly is the most strange and wonderful thing I have experienced so far in my life. But there comes a time when enoughs enough. And 9 months is definately a month too long! Junior feels so strong now that all the little kicks and movements are now big kicks and punches which either make me gasp or jump, I reckon Junior is definately cooked and ready to come out.

So why not make an appearance already?

It has got to the stage where I am fed up with being sore and practically immobile and I want to get back to my normal self again...maybe one day fit into my clothes - and shoes! And we both really want to know exactly what Junior is like and what sex s/he is, especially as for the past 6 months we have had our girls name picked and it has been almost impossible for us to find a boys name we like as much. We have managed to narrow it down but I think we will never be 100% certain - unlike the girls name.

But despite my niggles and complaints I do want Junior to come when s/he is ready and not when the doctor decides is convenient to him. Our doc offered to induce me at week 39 (which scarily is next week!!) and as much as I can't wait for the big day, I don't want it be fit in and around his other diary commitments. I have waited this long already, I can manage another week or two. I know some people might consider this a bit mad and others may have jumped at the chance to go early, but it is important that everything is as natural as possible, including the day on which Junior comes into the world.

Its not gonna be long now anyway and thanks to Woz everytime I come to our blog I get a big reminder of exactly how many days it is!!!

For those less fortunate than ourselves...

OK, it's come to my attention that apparently everyone in the world doesn't use Macintosh. It seems there's another type of computer operating system, called Windoze or something....

Now, you can get Quicktime for PC too, but it's not always pre-installed, and it's quite big to download on dialup. So I've decided to try and make it easier for these folk, and have provided the movie clip below as an MPEG file as well. Post some comments if it helps.

scenic.jpgOur transition from young hipsters to mid-aged fogeys neared completion today, when we took posession of our new 'Momobile' - A big ol' Renault Scenic bus!

Rather than try to squeeze Junior et al into the back of my 'sporty little number' (and many of you readers have experienced that squeeze), we figured we needed something a little more practical. To be honest, our new pram wouldn't even fit into my car, let alone anything else.

So we won't need plan B to get Jr home from hospital now - I don't think Max liked the idea of a baby seat strapped to a roof-rack, for some reason....

P.S. It's not red. It's Platinum (Silver to you, mate).

Belly Madness

| | Comments (4)

Sorry I haven't posted for a while, but I'm back and it's a cracker!

Finally got around to shooting, editing and compressing for the web, some footage of Max's belly going a bit mad. It's not the biggest movements we've seen, but I haven't really had the change to keep a camera trained on her 24/7 just in case....

Still, it's pretty funky/weird/mad, and everyone who has seen it so far has gasped - even my mum, and she's had 3 kids of her own doing that!

There's a great bit I caught at the end, where Max's belly goes one of those odd shapes it does sometimes, where it gets corners! It's even crazy for Max, who obviously never gets to see it from that angle.

Anyway, click one of the links below to view the movie clip. I've done a bigger one for broadband folk, and a smaller version for those poor people still on dial-up. Oh, and you'll need Quicktime installed, but most people should have that. If not, you can get it from here.. The grey bar at the bottom shows you how much has been loaded so far.... so be patient!
