Sucker
My first post in over a month.... I've been ticked off by 'er in doors for not posting enough, so I'll try and be better.
Anyway, we have ourselves a Thumb Sucker. It started with a general sucking of her fist when she was hungry, but somehow over time, she's found her thumb in amongst that clump of fingers, and is now making quite a (noisy) habit of it.
We are slightly concerned, but I don't really know what we might do about it (barring strapping her hands to her chair somehow). We have wanted to avoid the dummy route, and have so far, but at least with a dummy you can take it off her at some point. Removing her thumbs is an altogether messier affair, and aren't opposable thumbs the whole point to us humans in the first place?
Anyways, it looks like we are stuck with it now. I just hope she grows out of it earlier than my sister (28 years and counting...).

There are worse things she could do! Maybe she's toughening up her thumbs to take you on in Mariocarting when she's a bit older....
Also, if you think that you can just take a dummy off a rugrat who's got attached to one why do you think there are so many three-year-olds wandering around with one plugged in? Have you ever heard the noise a toddler makes in a supermarket if they lose a dummy?
Hey, there is nothing wrong with finger sucking!!! thumb, two middle fingers, what have you! Thumb suckers of the world unite. My two fingers have served me well over the years, calmed me down in times of stress. I figure it is alot better than having a gambling habit or a drug addiction. I say, let her be.
My sister still sucks her thumb (she's 25)and it's all shrivelled, wrinkly and purple?!?
Who's er indoors anyway !!!! I'll start calling you Rumpole next, ha ha ! Buy her a dummy or three. Max used to have 5 all at the same time - one for each finger!!
