Very Poorly

The last few days Emily has been the sickest she has ever been in her first 16 months. General grizzliness turned to an incredibly high temperature (the thermometer was reading 40.7 at one stage, as we frantically striped her to her nappy and opened all the windows).

Thanks to the wonders of Calpol her temperature quickly came down to still hot, but managable). The worst part of it all were the heartbreaking looks she would give us while crying - a kind of a "Why do I feel like this? C'mon, aren't you guys going to do anything about this?".

All the time you are thinking about some technological advance where you can transfer the illness to yourself and take it off her. Children under 3 should have an amnesty against being sick.

And she took a total dislike for the doctor and clamped onto me so tightly, with her head pressed against my chest, that he couldn't even examine her properly. I can't imagine how it must feel with parents who have very sick children.

Ah, the joys of Calpol. However, there’s another one you can give them - liquid Ibuprofen (Nurofen):

You can alternate between both Calpol and Nurofen and get something resembling a good nights sleep!
