Our Daughter, the Calpol Junkie
Em is sick.
She's had a really high temperature for the last 2.5 days, and won't eat a thing for us (which really does stress you out after a while).
On Sunday night she was quite hysterical around 3am - either with a bad nightmare or hallucinations. I went in, and she just kept saying "TIGER! TIGER! TIGER! SCARY! AWAY!" and pointing at her dolly, while crying hysterically. I took her out and calmed her down, but when I tried to put her back, she was scrambling to the other end of the cot from her dolly and pointing and saying it all again. I was very upsetting to see her so distressed. So she came into our bed for a while, but wouldn't settle.
We are very tired.
We took her up to the out-of-hours clinic last night, as we didn't want to overlook anything serious. The Doc checked her out and felt that everything seemed OK, but wanted us to drop a sample into her GP today if possible.
Considering Em has so far refused to go anywhere near her potty when she is on good form, getting her to use it when she's grizzly and poorly will be quite a task. Poor Max is trying today - I'm sure she will report any success.
The Doc told us not to worry about the eating thing, so long as she's drinking (which she is). I guess the ol' "they'll eat when they are hungry" does apply. She was having some Cheerios as I left for work today, so I guess that's something.
Calpol has helped us through this, as ever. When we ask Em does she want some medicine, she always says "yesh", and after her dose, says "More! More!" - so no trouble getting her to take that.
Hurrah for Calpol and it's pinky temperature-controlling goodness.

Well it's nice to hear she's now on the mend. She's certainly not short of love and attention which is the main thing she needs when she's poorly.
