December 2005 Archives
Emily is just so adorable I could just pick her up and squish her with cuddles!
She has started saying more pronounced sentences lately and asking lots of questions. It just makes her seem so suddenly grown up and it is so cute it is unbelievable! The latest questions are:
Whats that daddy?
Whats that mommy?
Whats that about?
Whats happened?
Whatcha doing mommy?
Whats that say daddy? (when reading christmas cards)
Whats that house? (meaning 'who lives there?')
Where you go going mommy?
Whats that name?
Whats on next mommy? (hmmm...tv)
Probably more but they have gone from my head! She also started saying regularly (especially first thing in the morning) 'wake up morning - not dark anymore, nice day outside'. Yesterday in Tesco's she was shouting 'Everyone - nice day outside'! This makes me laugh just writing it.
She has also started pretending a lot more and being silly. One of her favourite things is to go 'aaaahhh thunderstorm or 'aaaaah monster'. If something goes missing or she can't find something she says that either a monster or a dragon has got it.
I love this chatter and playfulness. Sorry everyone but our daughter is the cutest! :P
On another note, yesterday her appetite came back in full force. I can't begin to tell you what a relief this is after 3 weeks of not eating properly. Although I am a bit nervous of declaring this fact in case yesterday was a fluke...fingers crossed.
I'm a bit late posting this, but its been frantic this week, as ever. But Nanny & Grandad came over to visit us and Emily on Sunday for the day. A very long day for them, flying in themorning, spending the day with us, then flying back in the early evening. Thanks so much for coming over you two, it was lovely to see you both and we appreicate the effort you put in.
We had a lovely day. Despite not seeing them that often, Emily was totally relaxed with them and knew exactly who they were! We went to the Christmas Craft Fair in Belfast and Em held Grandads hand all the way from the car to the market! Jumping in muddy puddles as they went (one of Emilys favourite things to do).
I spent some time trying to learn to crochet again, something I tend to try when we are together. I will get there one day! I did practice all night mom but its gonna take a lot more practice yet!
It was sad to see them go and when we got to the airport Emily said, ' Me come too. Me hold Nannys hand!'
I wonder if its a good thing that Emily has decided to go on a sausage, biscuit and chocolate diet...?
As I said previously she wasn't well last week with a tummy bug. But her picky eating habits haven't really improved that much. I am wondering whether she is still a bit icky or just asserting her independence. Either way, its making me slightly uncomfortable that these are the only things she seems to eat (apart from dry cheerios, which are kinda like tiny biscuits).
What can you do? People say 'she'll eat when she's hungry' so I suppose I shall have to just ride it out and see what happens. I am going now to hide all of the biscuits...

Yesterday we took Emily to see Santa for the first time. We stood in a queue surrounded by moving polar bears, reindeer and images of Santa. All the time we were waiting Emily was really excited, stroking the animals and talking about meeting Santa. But when our turn came and the curtain went back Emily totally freaked out and started to cry. She wouldn't let go of us and wouldn't go anywhere near the man in the red suit with the big furry beard! She wouldn't even look at him.
Somehow we managed to get this photo (even if I do look a bit strange!), Emily got her present and left reasonably happy. Since then she has said she really liked Santa and she LOVES her new toy - which is a pull along train, a bit too young for her, but she has been playing non-stop with it ever since.

Look at the fun Emily and I had today! She just loved making this snowman. The idea came from a friend of mine, Karin, from the mother and baby group we go to. So thanks for the idea!

Just a little of photo of Emily doing some baking last week. We made Thomas the Tank Engine cakes. Those pre-bought boxes of cake mix are great for doing with kids, SO easy. They taste ok too! Not quite as nice as true home made buns, but good fun.
Unfortunately our little princess is sick at the moment. She is in reasonably good form but she has a tummy bug. She is totally off her food (apart from chocolate of course!) and I won't even begin to tell you about her nappies, but suffice to say they are like nothing I have ever seen before! Hopefully a few days of rest and plain food will sort her out.

Emily received this very cool t-shirt in the post last week. Thank you very much Darren & Sara, its just lovely! Of course it is never too early to start influencing her with all things designery (that excludes designer clothing brands and only includes fellow designers or artists!). Hope that makes sense. She loves painting and making things so I intend to continue to nurture this early instinct until she has her own opinions about things!
Anyway as you can see it also has a very cute bear on the back peaking out of a tree! Thanks again you groovesters!
