...'The Gang'
Just following from Warren's post about the small things being just as import ant as the big things. Sometimes its just so easy to miss little things and take them for granted.
Pictured, is the five things that are very precious to Emily. Rubby (the blanket underneath the gang), Baby Anna (named after Mark & Judys little baby, they also bought the dolly as a present), Baby, Pig and Rainy Bear. These guys are part of the bedtime routine and she would be lost without them. We have managed to get her down to taking only one of the gang when we go out somewhere, usually Rainy Bear, her favourite.
As for rubby...we have toyed with the idea of getting another one, just in case, but I just don't think it would be the same. She likes to rub the corners of this when she is sucking her thumb, hence the name. It is fast wearing away...
You know, I don't post round here enough. I guess Max is doing a lot more of the Emily stuff than me, and being that she's quite the prolific blogger these days, she usually beats me to the latest news. Plus I'm kinda busy with work and that most of the time.
But she's out partying tonight (as usual) and I'm here at home, so a chance to post at last.
When we started TwoBlueLines, we posted a lot about the small stuff, coz it was all new and exciting. But it's easy to only post the bigger stuff now, and take the smaller stuff for-granted.
I see this blog as much as a record for ourselves and a way to keep our far away friends in touch with the goings on in our Emily-related world. I was telling my mum a story on the phone about Emily the other night and she said "You should write this stuff down, because you forget it" - so I thought I should try and post more, with the little stuff.
Anyway, the story.
Em has developed a couple of new phrases; "I love..." and "me not like...". She declared her opinion about numerous things daily.
Last night, I was reading the Radio Times while Emily had her bedtime bottle beside me. There was an article with a picture of Ricky Gervais and his writing partner Stephen Merchant.
"What's that?" said Emily, pointing at the picture.
"That's a man".
"What's that called?" she said again, pointing.
"He's called Stephen".
She turned to me and said earnestly, "Me no like Stephen". All the way up to bed, she repeated "Me no like Stephen". Poor Stephen.
As quickly as she takes a dislike to something, she will take something new to her heart.
Tonight, I gave her a prawn cracker to try (she's never had one before). Again, the familiar question.
"What's that" (or actually "Waas dat daddy?").
"A Prawn Cracker".
"Me love them. Thankyou Daddy"
Only then did she give it a try.
To date, Emily has declared her love for Prawn Crackers, The Simpsons, Rubby (her blanket), and various other household items, but not yet Daddy. At least, not in words. :)

Here's the picture you asked for Darren. Doesn't she look super cool?!
You do realise we're gonna have to keep up the trendiness.
So when she is bugging us for expensive designer gear when she's older we'll just have to blame you!
Thanks again you trendsters!

Here's a photo of Em playing musical chairs at Krystals party today (pictured with Rachel, Kirsty's little girl). She had a ball! She just loves playing with all the other kids, dancing and being merry (who doesn't?!). Of course she polished off a whole lot of cocktail sausages, top hats, rice crispie cakes and various other chocolate based goodies!
Thanks for inviting us Michelle!

A couple of photos from Christmas, of Emily enjoying some of her Christmas presents. We have lots more but until our gallery is up and running we will keep you posted with a couple of photos here and there!
She just looks so gorgeous in her fairy outfit (thanks mom & Nige) and she adores her new keyboard (thanks Auntie Julie & Uncle Paul). Its so funny, she really sings and makes noises in the microphone whilst bashing the keyboard!
Oh and if you are reading Darren & sara, thanks for the new suprise t-shirt you sent for Em! I bet you never realised how appropriate it would be did you?!! The t-shirt has 'Fairies Rock' printed on the front in sparkly gold! Its very cool.
Firstly I just want to say Happy New Year everyone! We had a great Christmas (and now our house is even fuller with toys than ever!). Thanks for all your wonderful presents and generosity. It seems like I am doing my posts back to front but I wanted to post about last night and so I will put up some Christmas photos soon!
Yesterday in an effort to start sorting out the house a bit I rearranged Emilys bedroom. Partly to fit in all the extra toys she now has and partly to make room for stuff from the box room - which we will be decorating and moving Em into this year.
Her cot used to be sticking out in the middle of the room and all I did was to move it so that it was against a wall. I also put a set of draws at the end near the door, which blocked her view of the door which she used to have.
Well last night was a nightmare, she hasn't had us up like that since she was tiny. Who would've thought such a small change would make such a difference. We went through a number of things to calm her down, including a nappy change and 2 stories. Everytime we tried to leave she grabbed onto our arms, saying things like 'don't go!' 'me come too!' 'me come in mommys bed a little while!' etc etc Very heart rendering stuff.
Eventually she started falling asleep standing up, with her arms resting on the cot bars. She finally agreed to let Warren lie her down and she went to sleep! Phew! This doesn't bode well for us moving her into another room!
