April 2006 Archives
Yes, this is a dramatic title for a post but its nothing compared to how I feel right now. I am SOOO tired. I can't remember the last time I was so tired in fact. I think its because Emily has been so demanding and her usual predictable bedtime routine has gone completely out of the window and has been replaced with an unwillingness to even try to sleep.
I think it stems from some nightmares she had a couple of weeks ago, where she dreamt there was a doggy in her room sniffing. Ever since then she has become super clingy at night time and she grips onto you so tightly when you put her in the cot saying 'please don't go mommy/daddy. Stay here with me'. This is then followed by hours of calling and crying to go up, including her saying things like 'Mommy! Where are you, you silly billy?!' Which is even cute despite the circumstances.
Then yesterday she had a bit of a tummy bug and a very high temperature. When added to the sleep problems it meant a night of almost sleeplessness (well at least it felt that way to me!) with Emily up and down looking for us. At one stage we bought her in our bed but even that didn't work and we had to put her back in the cot. I am no longing for her to get over this situation as we all desperately need peaceful evenings and full night sleeps. I have tried talking to her about it but she is only 2.5 after all and so it doesn't really go in.
Wasn't Cordy about this age when she had the problems Steve & Lydia? That was caused by fireworks wasn't it? I will have to have a chat with you about it to see if you have any pearls of wisdom. Meanwhile, fingers crossed for tonight.

Its a long time since we took Em to the farm and it was far from successful, in fact she totally freaked out at all the animals. So when my friend Karen asked if we wanted to go with her and her boys, Noah and Seth (Noah is probably Emily's most favourite friend!) I thought it was worth another go.
It was such a lovely day on Friday, probably the nicest day of the year yet and we all had a great time. She was still a bit cautious of the animals but there was a definite improvement. Especially as she even asked for a horse ride! This was a mixture of emotions, one minute going "Weeeeeeee" the next minute asking to get off! We went on a tractor ride and Emily even got in with the bunnies at feeding time (although she just threw the lettuce at them instead of feeding them gently!) But she did really well. I am sure the next trip will be even better.
I am posting about this on my Noodles blog too, so there will be some photos here if you want to see.

It has been the sick house here for a while, hence the lack of posts. So don't worry we are still all alive and well and have the very best of intentions with keeping you up to date with everything.
Last week we all went to visit Nanny & Grandad in sunny old Bilston. We flew over on the Saturday, Warren stayed until the Monday and Emily and I stayed a little longer until Thursday. So it was a good break. Emily loves flying and gets so excited in the airport and even managed to get in her seat and buckle her belt on her own! On the way back she got a wave from the pilot too.
We had a great time and mostly just took it easy. Nanny & Grandad surprised Em with a swing which they had spent the week concreting into their garden and Grandad had even built her a little sandpit. Thank you so much you two, its so lovely that you make your home Emily's home. Em went to town a couple of times with mom too and took the dogs for a walk, leaving me to lounge around on the sofa which was just what I needed.
Its great being able to go over and potter around for a few days without rushing the visit. Hopefully we will see you again soon.
