20 Week Scan

Its hard to believe we are at 20 weeks already, but it was still exciting to get another scan! We were a bit late for the appointment and its always a nightmare to get parked at the hospital, so Warren parked the car while Emily and I went in the building. As soon as we stepped foot through the door the midwife whisked us into the scan room and told me to get onto the bed. I flipped a bit and said 'I'm not having my scan until my husband is here!!' it was a bit grumpy of me but I didn't want him to miss it! Luckily he wasn't long and didn't miss a thing.

Suffice to say all is well and the confirmed due date is 8th November. Its so weird this one being due one day before Warrens birthday and Emily was due one day before mine! The baby was wriggling around like crazy it was very funny. When the midwife gave us the scan she printed an extra one out for Emily of the baby waving at her. It was so sweet!

Although Emily was slightly more distracted this time, probably because it was a longer scan. So poor Warren had to try and catch glimpses at the scan whilst keeping Emily away from pressing all kinds of buttons and getting into mischief!

...Emily is now officially out of nappies!! It has been almost a week since she has been in 'big girl pants' and after a rocky start, the past couple of days have been a real breakthrough. She now 90% of the time is telling me that she needs to go to the toilet (although today we went to a science park, which was obviously much too exciting and she did have a little accident - but the only one today!).

I can hardly believe it. It has been a lot less traumatic experience than I thought and I haven't done the staying in thing that everyone talked about because to be honest, to stay for a week or more would drive me insane! So instead I have been carrying around lots of changes of clothes and her toilet seat and it seems to be working.

Sorry Sal, I know we said we were gonna wait until after our visit but Emily decided she didn't want nappies anymore. Thats how it all started. Last Friday, Emily went on her potty then told me she wanted 'big girl pants' and that nappies were for babies. How could we argue with that?!

Another big landmark reached...what next I wonder?

Twenty Weeks Already

I can't believe I am at 20 weeks now. You can see here how much I am growing, or rather how much junior is growing! This pregnancy is going so quickly, we haven't even really thought of any names properly yet or anything. I just don't have the time to focus so much on being pregnant with Em running around demanding attention all day long!

I am also really starting to feel the side effects of having a bump! It is getting very uncomfortable already to bend over, especially when trying to put on socks or shoes or getting out of bed in the morning. And I still have lots of growing to do yet!

We have the 20 week scan on Friday so you will be getting more pics and hopefully a clearer idea of our due date. Its mad being pregnant!

Homemade T-Shirts!

Here is a picture of Emily modeling a t-shirt I made for her. Well I actually just bought the t-shirt from Asda but I appliqued the lovely little house on the front. I really have to learn how to make proper clothes, it would be lovely to have little individual things to wear. But they would need to look well made otherwise it could be a bit naff! Hey mom, get the old patterns out that you used to make me when I was little!

For the past couple of weeks Em seems to have become super sensitive. It really is quite strange and very disconcerting. Anytime a baby or another child cries she completely freaks out. She gets really upset and starts crying saying things like, 'Baby crying at me', 'What's wrong with baby?', or if we are out 'I want to go home, I want to go home!'.

I try and talk to her about it but its just impossible when she gets in this state. The slightly worrying thing is that obviously there will be lots of crying in this house once junior arrives. I wonder whether it is a subconscious reaction to the baby or if its simply just a stage she is going through? She seems absolutely fine with the idea of the new baby crying and says she would give it a cuddle or a dummy, so its just hard to know what is going on in her little head.

Playgroup Open Day

Today was Emily's open day for the playgroup she will be going to in September. It will be two mornings a week for a year until she is old enough to go to pre-school. I should've taken a photo of it but I managed to get this pic off the web at least. It is a beautiful old Victorian school house with a tower (which you can't really see in this photo). They also have a play area outside.

Warren took time out of work to go today as it is such a big step for Emily. It was so exciting to see her go in, all morning she has been talking about going to her school to talk to her teachers! She had no problem settling in straight away and was off painting pictures and playing with all the toys. She loved it. In fact she was the last one out, so I guess this means we won't have any problem getting her to stay there. I can't believe she is nearly 3, where has the time gone?

Our Funny Bunny

Emily has been really developing her sense of humour lately. She has always had a mischievous streak to her but she has made me really laugh a few time lately. The funniest thing was the other morning when she went to give Warren a cuddle and she said 'Phewy. Daddy you are smelly. You are smelly like a sock'! Totally hilarious. This has since increased to 'smelly like pants'!! I really don't know where she is getting it from!

Yesterday she was sitting with me while I had a cup of tea and she looked at me with a cheeky little smile and asked me if I was drinking 'poo-poo tea'! I said no because that would be very yucky and she laughed. She then proceeded to ask me if I would like a 'poo-poo scone' with my 'poo-poo tea'!

It is so funny. There are probably lots of other little things that I am not telling you. I have to try and make more of a note of them all as her little personality develops more and more each day. I can see we are going to have lots of fun in the future!

We went round our friends Karen and Richards house this afternoon for a lovely barbecue. It has been a lovely weekend and for a second we thought it might rain on us, but luckily it held off and the sun shined through the clouds.

The picture is of Emily and baby Seth who is a cutie. Emily loves playing with Noah and they had a lot of fun jumping in and out of the paddling pool, running around the garden and chasing Noah's rabbit, who was let out for a run around.

They only live round the corner which is great cause we can have a nice walk there and back. I just love the summer - when it finally comes to us that is!

This morning I asked Emily if she would like to have a shower with me and was surprised to hear her say yes! She has had one shower before at Nanny & Grandads house, but they have a walk in shower so it was a bit of a novelty for her.

She really enjoyed it in the end, although she did sit in the bath and I just showered her rather than her standing. When we were finished I put a towel on my head and she insisted that she get one too! So here she is looking very cute and very grown up in her own little turbon.
