August 2006 Archives
Well I have been back from Bilston for almost a week now and to be honest I haven't felt like blogging or anything else when it comes to it. I am still feeling totally exhausted and a bit of a wreck so everything except lying on the sofa just has to take a back seat at the moment. I will also have to report about our Bilston adventure but I am afraid that will have to wait for another post - it might be a bit back to front but hey.
I just thought I should update you on my ante-natal appointment today. Everything seems fine, just mild anaemia and high cholesterol, which apparently is nothing to worry about. The advice is just to keep taking my iron, rest and get Warren to do everything! But the midwife thought I was big for my 30 weeks and thought I might be further on so sent me up to the hospital for a scan.
At the hospital the doctor checked and double checked and although my dates still seem fine he reckons it is a mighty big baby, well above average size for 30 weeks and so there is still an outside chance that I am more. They reckon my size is about 33 weeks. Also there was a lot more fluid which indicates I could be further on. This basically means that there is a chance, although it might not happen, that I might go early. So I had to have a steroid injection to cover the possibility of early labour and to help with the development of the babys lungs. I have to go back tomorrow for another one and then back on Monday to the hospital clinic and they will be monitoring me more closely from now on.
Although I am not worried, it has left me feeling a rather strange - the fact that really the baby could decide to hurry up and come early. So now I feel I need to get myself into gear and sort out my hospital bag, wash everything that is left in the loft, including cleaning the pram. The thing it still might be November, but now I just don't know...
Its really late and I should be in bed, but if I don't post about this now (which is already a week late!) I never will. I just don't seem to be able to get anything done this week - it doesn't help that I had to go to bed for a sleep on Sunday afternoon for about 3-4 hours!
Anyway we having been waiting for an appropriate film to take Emily to the cinema to see for her very first big screen adventure! We were still a bit dubious that she is too young but we thought it might be fun for her as she is already turning into a film buff (nothing to be proud of I know, but some things just don't go according to plan!). So as Warren is a big Pixar fan and the films are always great we thought 'Cars' was the one to see.
She sat between us with a big box of popcorn and happily watched the film. I have to say she was very good and only got up a couple of times and once for the loo. She did put her hands over her ears a few times at the noisy car race moments but other than that she loved it. Its not something we'll be doing every week but as a special treat and a new experience I think it went down really well.
