Almost the End of an Era

| | Comments (1)

This week is becoming the end of an era for Emily and I. It is the last few times she will be going to the Mums & Chums groups, as she is getting too old and will be going to nursery everyday from September. I feel quite emotional about it all. She is totally oblivious to it though. I think its because I know I will still be going to the groups but she won't be with me. I feel so close to Emily as we have been practically inseparable over her 3 and a half years. I suppose its the start of letting go and letting her make her way in the world. If I feel like this now just imagine what I will be like when she wants to leave home and move away! Warren has asked what I would do if she wanted to move to another country when she is older and I said that I would just follow her and move too! Just imagine how mortified she would be moving home with her mom following her about everywhere!

But its the start of an era for me and Harrison and in a way its good that its working out this way, as I will be able to have some much needed quality one to one time with him, which Emily benefited from at his age. Its a real balancing act having more than one child. I am also becoming more actively involved in things locally too. From September (today really as I have already had to make some decisions!) I am taking over as leader of one of the local Mums & Chums groups. This means I will be responsible for the group, I will have to get the toys ready and snack time and organise any crafty activities. I am a bit nervous about having this 'job' albeit non-paid as I will need to step out of parenting bubble and get focussed. But I am looking forward to it too and once I have settled in I can start making my mark and introducing some of the ideas I have. Another girl was asking if I would be interested in joining Emilys' school committee too which I agreed to - but this isn't until the end of the year. Who knows where it will all lead! Who'd of thought it aye? Sometimes I wonder what my life was like before I had kids!
